This year is flying on by!

Hey guys

So these posts are getting fewer and further between!! Sorry. Life recently. Lets see. Its been a pretty emotional last week or so, everyone other than 4 of us is leaving and heading on home. There are a fair few of them gone already and more finishing in the next week. We drove Andrea to the airport yesterday which was very very sad. Everyone was crying. Haha funny moment, Jeremy- one of the guys who is staying on until January- is going out with one of the girls at Soarin. He was talking about how his ex is coming to visit in the next few days and how hes dreading it because shes a horrible person bla de bla. One of the other guys came in half way through the conversation and thought he was talking about the girl hes going out with now..... basically told him, yeah you're right, you can do so much better than her, shes not that great. It was really lucky Jeremy didnt hear him properly or that could have been a very nasty situation lol. We all found it hilarious... we just didnt mention it to Jeremy!! We played tennis again this morning but it was WAY too hot to really get into it. It ended up with all of us jumping into the pool. In other news, Im trying to move apartments... except that I got a letter today telling me there is no room in Patterson which is where I wanted to move to. Might apply for Chatham instead. Chatham is at least nicer than Vista. Ummm. Yeah thats about it!! Email me!

Um. Oops?

Hey guys!

Sorry I know its been a really really unforgivably long time!! Things have been so crazy busy around here its not even funny! So instead of writing out a HUGE big long email ill just type out the basic exciting happenings. Even though we all know Ill probably end up rambling lol. Ok Since I last wrote the following has happened.

- My family came! We went to the bahamas- plenty of drama around that one, ended up driving from Orlando to Miami, back to Orlando, back to Miami and back to Orlando again. Bahamas were incredibly amazing! The beach was gorgeous, just how it looks in the photos. We went to a pet shop in Miami that had snakes and lizards and fun stuff like that. Sooo soo many of them, it was crazy. I got to hold a snake which was pretty epic, although the boys were a bit too scared to because apparently "you cant pull anything off a snake like you can with other stuff". In other words, if it tried to bite them, they couldnt pull its legs off to get revenge. Little wusses those boys are... While they were here we also went to see some alligators, got to hold one of those too! Other than that it was pretty much just the theme park circuit! Was fun having them here, even if my sleep suffered a bit!

-I have been hanging out with work friends a LOT. This week alone we have been to a cast party and spent a day at the parks, gone on a day trip to the beach- sooo much fun, we dug a hole under the french boys towel. Highlight of the day when he tried to lie down :)- had a "Bring somehting you would eat at home" BBQ, and gone on a backstage tour of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom. That was this morning. It was amazing. Easily worth getting up at 5 am for lol. We had to meet at MK at 6.15, and seeing as none of us knew how to get to the cast car park we left early. Good thing we did too, we listened to Rebecca too much and got lost at pretty much every corner! WE got shown how all of the effects are created. So so so clever, cant say too much on here cos it would ruin the magic though. AMAZING. Imagineers are my heroes. Then we went for breakfast and I ate too much french toast. THEN I was wandering back to my apartment, vaguely thinking about going for a swim and I ran into Bonnie who was moving apartments. Somehow I got roped into helping her, poor wee thing cant lift anything to save her life :(. It was fun though and she gave me icecream so we are all good. That is a very brief over view of the excitement of my crazy life in the house of mouse. Oh! Brittany and Amber both arrive tomorrow so that will be fun! I think a Universal trip is on the cards.
Anyways, Email me you slackers :)
Love you all!

4th of July!

Hey!

So its now the 5th of July. That means yesterday was the 4th! And it was epic! Lol. Ok so I knew I wasnt going to see the fireworks because I was going to be at work so I went to see them on the 3rd at Magic Kingdom instead because they had a preview kinda thing. Me, Christian, John, Lindsay, Dianna, Chris and Melissa- I think that was all?- drove to the Contemporary and ran up to the roof to watch them from there. It was so amazing. There were fireworks right around the park rather than just over the castle like usual and there was music and the fireworks were incredible and it was pretty much just fantastic. There was a girl sitting on her dads shoulders who, about halfway through, decided to announce "These are really pretty but can someone PLEASE scratch my foot?!" Lol. Then we went downstairs and I got a free drink because the girl at the checkout was nice. Dianna squeaks when you tickle her. Sunday, the 4th, I went to church with Alex and Christian then out for lunch to Sweet Tomatoes- again. :) Church was interesting, because it was 4th of July it was all really really patriotic, they sang the national anthem and a whole lot of "God Bless America, Isnt America Great" kind of songs, none of which I knew. After lunch I went to a BBQ at Mickeys Retreat with my work friends. I was pretty late so most of the food had gone- not that I was hungry having eaten at Sweet Tomatoes- and everyone was out playing Volleyball which I though I just might throw up if I attempted. I ended up sitting at the table with Lindsay Sam and Patrick talking about stuff. Drama. So so much drama. Ridiculous. Work was funny, I ended up stuck out the front for most of the night which I usually really really dont like but lots of cool people were out there so it was fine. We were all pretty tired so we were trying to keep ourselves awake and entertained. We ended up thinking of random words and challenging each other to use them in coherent, noncreepy sentences to the guests. Turnip, funnel, flabby, gregarious, luminous and antidisestablishmentarialism got us past the 12am mark lol. One guy was just way too good though, we didnt stump him once! Almost got him with "flabby" but not quite. :) Oh well Id better go get ready for work. Love you all!

And another couple of weeks have flown on by

Once again, sorry, I forgot to update/have been a bit busy/couldnt be bothered. But whats been going on recently? I have 3 days left of work at Soarin which to be honest Im pretty gutted about. I decided on moving because there didnt seem to be any cool people coming in and because I would have gotten really bored staying there until January. But now cool people have popped up out of nowhere and I dont want to leave!! Im moving to the Towers gift shops which are these two matching gift shops at the edge of world show case. I get to wear a shirt with flags all over it and white shorts up to my waist with the shirt tucked in. I am also going to have to become the proud owner of a pair of white shoes. Ugh. In other news, My family is currently at the Niagara Falls but they are slowly making their way down here. So excited! Honestly cant wait to see them! Pretty sure everyone over here has heard enough about it to last them a life time! Yesterday three of the guys from work - Jeremy, Michael and Greg- went to Mickeys Retreat and played tennis. It was so much fun, felt really good to be doing something outside lol. Except that we were dumb/keen enough to do it in the middle of the day so it was REALLY hot and muggy outside. We were all so gross and sweaty by the end of it. Was fun though! I had quite a productive day actually, I made brownies and I did my laundry and I tidied my room a wee bit and I did my assignment for class and I read some Harry Potter. Then I went to work which, because we were all working so late, we had all decided to bring cakes. Thats what I made brownies for. So we had a LOT of cake. We were all on a huge sugar rush but then around 11pm we all crashed pretty hard lol. Wasnt maybe the smartest idea of all time. Was good while it lasted though!!! And today me and 5 of the other girls from work are going to Beaches and Cream which is an icecream parlour kind of place. They make whats called the Kitchen Sink which is a scoop of every kind of icecream and all of the toppings in a bowl shaped like a sink. Its HUGE. Noone ever finishes it but we think we are up to the challenge!!! So thats in an hour or so. Im still in bed :). Oh!! I didnt tell you about Harry Potter! Universal Studios has opened a new area called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Its all themed and set up like Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The day it opened my room mates waited 8 hours to get in. Just to get in, thats not for the rides or anything. It is so amazing. I got Butterbeer and ate at the 3 broomsticks and saw Ollivanders and Zonkos. The new ride they made for it is incredible. Its inside Hogwarts castle and the queue goes through Hogwarts which is awesome. THere are moving paintings and everything. The ride itself is insane, I dont even know how to start to explain it... You sit on a bench and fly all over the place, past dementors and a basilisk and through a quidditch game. But that makes it sound lame. I just cant explain it properly. AAAAAmazing. Yesterday it was raining really hard so I wore a rain coat to work. I took it off when I got on the bus then when I got off the bus I put it back on. Only thing was that I put in on inside out. All the rain ended up on the inside. But yeah thats pretty much everything for the last few days! 4th of July on Sunday so thats going to be fun. Even though I wont see the fireworks or anything. I kinda really want to see the fireworks!! Oh well. Im going to do somehting productive now. Bye!

TOY STORY 3

OH MY GOSH! We went to Toy Story 3 last night after work. 11.30pm showing. We got there at about 10.15 so we had time to go get Ghiradellis beforehand which was fantastic. I love icecream so much :). Then to the movie. It was fantastic fantastic fantastic! So so so good! Loved it loved it loved it. I cried lol. So did all of the other girls with us and a couple of the guys. The guy sitting in front of me, Vincent, has the funniest laugh ever. He sounds like a 40 year old woman. And he laughs at everything. So I was cracking up the whole way through just at him! Some of the others went to Hollywood this morning. I couldnt go because I had class. Yeah did I tell you I picked up a class? Creativity and Innovation. Its a college level class (kinda) and at the end you get a mousters degree. lol. It sounds like fun though. This morning was the first class and it was really good, the lecturer teacher whatchamacallim is funny as anything... Same kind of sense of humour as Dad lol. Good to be made to think again lol. Anyways, everyone else went to Hollywood. And they got to see Lots'o'huggin bear. Apparently he actually does smell like strawberries! I want to go hug him. And tell him off for being evil. Um. Oh and the other night I went to see Chicago! It was so good! THey had the band all up in the back centre of the stage, the whole thing was kind of set up as a jazz bar or something. It was fantastic- if you could get over the kinda dodge costumes lol. Anyways thats about it for the last few days. I got 6 hours sleep last night because I got home from the movies at 2am and had class at 9am. And now its 11pm and I have church in the morning. My sleep patterns are so bad! Oh well! At least I didnt totally give in to being stupid and go to Rachels to play wii. There is an epic thunderstorm happening at the moment. Huge lightning and massive as claps of thunder. Nothing out of the ordinary though, they happen at least every week or so here!
So yeah Im off to bed. Good night!

Whoops

So I totally forgot that I said I would update and tell you alllll about my adventures in Michigan. Here we go. I hope youre excited. Its pretty epic. We caught a train from Chicago to Grand Rapids. The train took 4 hours. It was really reaaaaaaaaaaaaally REEEEEEEEAAAAAAAALLY slow. I probably could have crawled quicker than that train went. Rebecca was complaining about it the whole way. I was quite happy drawing a picture. I think Rebecca probably thinks Im about 4 years old.. you know, give me some crayons and a cardboard box and Im happy for hours... Anyways we got there and Brittany and Bonnie picked us up. Apparently Bonnie was so excited our train was coming in that she started running towards the tracks and Brittany had to actually grab her so that she didnt die. Lol funny little korean child. We drove back to Brittanys and ate cake that Bonnie had made then went to bed. I was sleeping on the couch downstairs because Brits room isnt that big and there were three of them in there already lol. I think I had the most comfortable spot to be honest!! The next day we got up pretty late and went for a swim in the pool. Bonnie went down the slide into the deep end and kinda didnt mention she couldnt swim so she couldnt touch the ground and was thrashing around and drowning for ages before we decided we should probably go get her. Whoops. She wasnt too happy with us! After that she refused to let go of her little orange floaty thing. The weather packed it in after that so we went out for lunch with Brittanys mum and then to the movies to see Letters to Juliet. Ended up wandering around the mall for ages- they all insisted on looking in all the makeup shops, kinda wanted to shoot them. I got hungry so I bought a pretzel. Then we went home and watched Dear John because it was still rainy and gross. The next day it was really nice again so we drove about 40 minutes to the sanddunes and rolled down them and got sand in our ears. We walked down the beach and such and did the running away from the waves thing. Good day all up. When we got home we blobbed for a bit then went out for tea to one of those japanese places where they cook in front of you and throw food at you. I think my eyebrows got singed, the fire went a bit bigger than it was supposed to and I was a wee bit closer than I should have been. It was really good though! After that we were really really really full but we went for a walk through the city and along the river and saw the fish ladder. Lol, yes. The fish ladder. Apparently all the salmon swim downstream and cant get back up the little water fall thing so they made a ladder. Its pretty much just steps but apparently at the right time of year there are fish all over it. After that lovely little adventure we went home and made smores the american way with graham crackers and massive big marshmallows. :) Only the fire wouldnt catch properly so we went through an entire bottle of kerosene. They were good though. Bonnie ate 6. And then we went to bed and then got up and then went to the airport and then caught the plane and then caught the shuttle and then went back to our apartments and slept for a long long time. The end. :)

Chicago!

Ok! So yes, I know its been a wee while too long. My bad. At the urging of my parents- who Im pretty sure are about the only ones who read this anyway- I am going to update you now! I got home last night from an epic adventure with Rebecca, Bonnie and Brittany. Me and Rebecca flew to Chicago last Friday at 10 am ish. That was super fun seeing as I finished work at 12.15, got home at 1.15am, got to bed at about 2 and had to be up at 6.30 to pack!! I functioned reasonably well for the rest of the day considering my very limited sleep. So yeah we flew into Chicago and after much deliberation and confused-ness caught the train into the CBD. Luckily the train stopped about a block from the hostel we were staying at. Unfortunately we walked in the wrong direction so the one block became about 10 or so. With our bags. Awesome. We dumped all of our stuff then went for a wander to Millenium park which was awesome, there are huge big sculptures and stuff. There is one called cloud gate, I think its pretty famous. Its shaped kinda like a bean and its made of reflective steel or aluminium or something so it reflects the skyline in a crazy mirror kinda thing. It was amazing, you could walk under it and photo bomb other peoples photos really easily :). After that we started walking to the John Hancock tower but gave up because of rain and went inside the art gallery instead. It was crazy, there was so many pieces in there that I had studied! Picasso and Gris and Braque and Kandinsky and Hopper and Brancussi and Mondrian and that one with the American Gothic man and woman with the pitchfork. It was awesome. Except that by about half the way around it I was getting really hungry which isnt good because then I get grumpy. Soooo we caught the train to this super cool diner with waiters and waitresses yelling at each other and singing and dancing to 50s music. They got up on the tables and lipsynced at one point. The food was good in a heart attack waiting to happen kinda way. Rebecca gave her number to the waiter. I laughed. Caught the bus home and slept so so so so well!! The next day- Saturday- was really gross and rainy. We were going to do a walking tour but that failed because of the rain so we went shopping instead. Didn't really see anything of interest though, except for a whole lot of really artsy kinda shops that we wanted to buy everything from. I bought an umbrella because it was really really rainy! I didnt really think that purchase through though, its kinda not exactly compact which made carrying it aroung a wee bit annoying. I managed to stab both myself and Bex with it. The handle is also entirely metal which means if I use it in Florida Ill probably be struck by lightning and die. Oh well lol, it made me feel very Mary Poppins like while I was carrying it!! After we went shopping the rain stopped for a while so we did a walking tour of historic architecture. It was pretty fantastic, saw lots of buildings we wouldnt have looked at twice but that were actually amazing if you looked at them properly. One of the things I liked most about Chicago was the diversity of the buildings. Most cities all of the skyscrapers and other buildings look the same but in Chicago they were all totally different. There were all sorts of different influences chucked all in together. It was really interesting to look at. Um. After that we went to Pizzeria Uno for tea and got deep dish chicago pizza which was so so good! Yummmm. We were both feeling kinda ickyy by then because we had forgotten to drink anything all day so we tried to rehydrate all at once. Not a smart idea because we then went to Billy Elliot the Musical and as epically awesome as it was, I needed to pee the entire second half. Billy Elliot was amazing though. Absolutely amazing! Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. We got our seats for $25 which we thought was a good deal, they were limited view but you only missed one corner of the stage which nothing happened in anyways. Went home, went to bed. Sunday we started by going up the Sears tower. Except that now its the Willis tower. But all good, its the tallest building in the states. We stood on the little glass plate things and looked dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooown to the little people underneath us. It was pretty cool, but maybe not worth the $15 or whatever it was to get up there. The sky tower is fairly similar. Not as tall, but similar. After that we walked around the water front to Navy Pier which is the really really super touristy bit of the city. Ate Chicago style hotdogs for lunch then went to the circus! After that we caught a bus to try and go to the zoo but we epic failed because we got lost then it started to rain. Again. So we wandered back to the train station again, back to the hostel and ate our left over pizza for tea. THEN, and thats in capitals because this was EPIC, we went to the cheesecake factory for dessert. OH MY GOSH. It was so so so so good. I got raspberry truffle and Rebecca got tiramisu and we ate half of each and felt sick but it was so amazingly awesome tasting. Then we walked home and went to bed. Wow Im doing pretty well remembering what happened on each day huh? Monday we checked out of the hostel and left all of our stuff there while we went to Oak Park which is the suburb that Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright were from. It was pretty. Kinda similar to the art gallery/ Hagley kinda area of Chch. Then we got our gear and caught the train to Michigan to meet Brittany and Bonnie who had spent the last 2 days driving the distance we flew in 2 hours. Bahaha. Did all kinds of fun stuff there too but Ill leave that for another day because my fingers hurt. Bye!
